Clumsy Bat Coloring Book now for sale!

My first ever book publishing venture has been completed and is now for sale! Clumsy Bat: A Children's Coloring Storybook is a fun little project I started back in 2017 while working in the mountains at Lake Tahoe, California. As I sat selling parking passes to tourists at a popular California State Park I would often have a lot of downtime in the little hut of a kiosk with no internet and no cell service, so between selling passes and breaking up fights over parking spaces I would sketch in my little notebook. And sometimes visitors would sneak peeks at what I was doing, and they all seemed to enjoy it so I'm hoping you will too!

The story follows Clumsy, a young bat who takes his first venture into the open world outside his cave in search of a meal. He encounters obstacles and challenges along the way, learning that courage and persistence will lead you to the greatest of rewards in the end. The journey teaches about the natural history of this species, that they need to learn how to fly just like a baby bird fledging the nest, and even how they utilize echolocation to hunt for prey in the dark.

Clumsy Bat came from an idea I had where I could tell fun little stories with a strong or important moral behind it, but centered around scientifically accurate facts about that particular wildlife species. I picked bats for the first one because I thought they are both adorable specimens and often misunderstood, and I would see them flying every night as the sun went down in my little kiosk shack. So first I picked four bat species native to the United States and sketched them in what I considered a cartooned but accurate depiction of their adorable little faces, and then I took a poll among my coworkers to see which one they thought was the cutest (or most relatable). Hence, the Townsend's Big-eared Bat (Corynorhinus townsendii) was chosen!

You can find a copy of Clumsy Bat: A Children's Coloring Storybook on Amazon, Google Shopping, Barnes & Noble, many physical bookstores, and more! Or you can buy directly from me on our website www.CorisCritters.com. Wherever you find it, leave a review if you enjoyed it!

Thanks for reading.
